A delicious concoction of vodka, champagne, and pineapple juice. This authentic Sex and the City drink will have you and your girls dishing the latest gossip in no time!
Once upon a time, I was a 20 something girl in college trying to find love. The unfortunate flip to that coin was, most of the 20 something men in college are not. So in true college fashion, there was a lot of dating followed by commiserating horror stories with the girlfriends over cocktails. One Halloween, my roommate and I went to a party, I can’t recall what we dressed up as but it was somewhere along the lines of a traditional trick or treat costume. In other words, tastefully covered, spooky makeup, and somewhat elaborate with attention to detail. We were 24ish. When we got the party the younger 20 something girls were dressed like playboy bunnies with their hair teased, glitter, and tons of skin showing. Apparently we missed the memo that stated 20 something women are supposed to dress like harlots for Halloween. Naturally, we were practically scooted into a corner by the all the flirting and groping induced by this profitable piece of information we were not privy to. Thoroughly annoyed and put out by our efforts, my roomie turned to me and said, “OMG this is just like an episode of Sex and the City!” She owned all the seasons… on VHS. She promptly grabbed my hand and barreled me through the party to the nearest exit without a single goodbye to anyone. A quick stop for ice cream and we were back home where she quickly found the exact VHS and fast forwarded to the last episode (remember those days?) I’d never watched them because I thought they were kinda trashy. Still as the connections between our night and this episode came to light, I felt a strange wash of comfort come over me. Somewhere after hitting a threshold of bad dates and evenings waiting by the phone, the show went from trashy to hilarious. Sex and the City was/is balm for the heart for me and so many of my college girlfriends. When the show was in its hay-day you’d be hard pressed to find a bunch of girls having a cocktail and not hear a reference come up at least once during the evening. So are you a Samantha or a Carrie?
One aspect the show was known for was the plethora of cocktails showcased almost entirely in martini glasses. The top of the list was, of course, the famous cosmopolitan. However, this one was always my favorite. From Season 3 Episode 18 where Samantha moves to the Meatpacking District of Manhattan and encounters some very rambunctious drag queens. After a brief rivalry, they decide to kiss and make up over these delicious cocktails and a roof party. Easy to make in a single glass or a large batch for a punch bowl. This is a stupendous crowd pleaser.
