Smoked Salmon Dip

Smokey savory salmon makes an incredible dip! Paired with cream cheese, classic lemon, garlic, onion, and fresh herbs for a taste that will be the envy of all other appetizers! This dip is easy to make and goes great on crostini, crackers, and even salty chips. 

Salmon is a regular occurrence in our home. Mountain Man fishes it year round. I consider myself more of the fair weather fisher woman and enjoy joining him in this venture in the summer months. Each year we catch enough salmon to eat it for dinner once each week for the whole year and smoke the rest for parties and gifts. As you sit there in envy over all the fresh fish we have, do remember, it’s a lot of work, time, and money that we put in to our livelihood. Lucky for us, we love doing it. 

As you can imagine, eating that much fish, the taste, like anything else can get redundant. I honestly hardly ever eat our smoked salmon anymore. I’ve had it so much, I’m sick of it! I’ll eat anything on the appetizer table that isn’t smoked salmon. I do enjoy watching it quickly disappear via other guests though, our recipe is pretty phenomenal. I’m pretty sure our smoked salmon has launched many new friendships for me over the years. 

So I was at a party recently where a friend of our brought salmon dip. It was incredible! For the first time in years, I was favoring the salmon appetizer on the table. What I really liked about his dip is that he added fresh cilantro which gave it an herby kick that was both unique and exactly what the dish needed. I knew I needed to create my own recipe ASAP. 

And it came together so easily! I basically added all my favorite dip ingredients, cilantro, and salmon. Then I had it with crackers for lunch, and then a snack, and then… well you get the idea. It’s delicious! I can’t wait to show up to parties with my new favorite appetizer! 

Smoked Salmon Dip

  1. 8 oz smoked salmon
  2. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  3. 1/2 cup sour cream
  4. 6 oz cream cheese
  5. 1 clove garlic, minced
  6. 1 tsp dill weed
  7. 2 tsp yellow onion, finely shredded
  8. 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, minced
  9. 2 tsp lemon juice
  10. 1/4 tsp salt
  11. 1/4 tsp pepper
  1. Finely shred salmon using your food processor.
  2. Combine all ingredients using an electric mixer until smooth.
  3. Serve immediately or chill for later.
